Journey to Christmas is a four part DVD set that follows five people as they go on a tour of the Holy Land, with the express purpose of experiencing the Nativity in the place that it happened.
The DVD’s are excellent quality. For being filmed “on location” the filming and sound quality are extremely good.
There were many fascinating tidbits in the series. I enjoyed hearing about Israel and getting an inside look into the time period when Jesus was born.
On the other side of the coin, I was also deeply disappointed. The “commercialism” that has taken over Israel left me with little desire to go there personally.
The series is set up to be used as part of advent or a small group setting. This, unfortunately, is its greatest downfall. I think it would have been much better to simply have a full-length documentary (or perhaps, at the most, two parts).
I found little in the series that would be useful in a group setting. It does, however, come with group discussion material (in PDF format).
Journey to Christmas was sent to me in exchange for my honest review from Tyndale House Publishers.
